Central Nova Women’s Resource Centre (CNWRC) celebrated International Women’s Day with a Head Over Heels High Tea at the Holiday Inn (Truro) on Friday, March 10, 2017. We welcomed over 200 women for an enjoyable celebration!
International Women’s Day is a celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women for their economic, political and social achievements. All funds raised from this event will support Girl Power!, our summer camp programs for girls in Colchester County.
Our guest speakers at the Head Over Heels High Tea were Dee Dooley and Colette Robicheau.
Dee is a Governor General award recipient who was recognized for making an outstanding contribution to the goal of equality for women and girls in Canada. She shared her passionate story of working with teens at the YWCA in Halifax.
Colette, who presented on the etiquette of a high tea, is the president of Organize Anything. She has honed her etiquette and protocol skills in the hospitality industry serving celebrities, politicians and dignitaries, and has trained at the Protocol School of Palm Beach.
Our guests enjoyed an after-work social with us. They had the opportunity to visit vendor booths from local female-owned businesses, and enjoyed a delightful snack including tea, dainty sandwiches and treats on every table.
There was also a 50/50 draw, great door prizes, and a footwear fashion show and contest held by Elegant Steps. Participants of the footwear contest had an opportunity to win a lovely prize for the “sexiest” or “most sensible” shoes!
Special thanks to our sponsors: Big Dog / CAT Country, Elegant Steps, Holiday Inn Truro and Patterson Law
